C. Donald Carpenter is a retired proprietor of a rural land survey office with a deep interest in local (and not so local) history. Our farm is but 2 miles distant from the subject foundry and so raised questions of why there was so little known of a local manufactory. Thus was an 11 year (off and on) project added to digging potatoes, restoring tractors, building additions and such that old people are not supposed to be bothered with. Not to mention other historical research, rifle matches and chamber music venues.
